This Looks Cool

Have you seen the screens for Mirror’s Edge? This looks pretty tight. Apparently this game’s supposed to be one of the premier titles of 2008…nothing like a little pressure. I’m also a little pissed because, according the the 1up dudes, they got a good look at it at GDC which I totally missed. Probably because I was too excited about the Emotiv Brainwave Reader or Street Fighter (but can you really blame me?)
From the site: “The analog sticks handle basic movements, but two buttons — an “up” button for jumps, vaulting and climbing, and a “down” button for ducking, sliding, etc. — controlled most actions. And between different combinations of them, complex movements look to be possible, like executing parachute rolls on landing, and performing wall-runs across impassable gaps (using the game’s version of bullet time for a larger-than-normal window to make decisions and perform actions). The stunts look nimble, and though we haven’t playing the game ourselves yet, the controls look appreciably responsive.”

Pretty awesome, so it would seem. The 1up guys also got to sit down with the game’s producers and have a little one on one. They reference Crackdown in the beginning of the interview, which would make it seem like Mirror’s Edge is a Microsoft creation. But there’s not much info out there so we’ll just have to be patient. Anyway, the shots look cool…hit up the 1up link above and check out more images and the full interview.
